OVERVIEW

Vitamin B12, abbreviated as VB12, also known as cobalamin, is one of the B vitamins. It is a kind of complex organic compounds of Gulin containing cobalt. The trivalent cobalt is located in the center of the Gulin ring plane similar to porphyrin. It is the largest and most complex vitamin molecule found at present, and it is also the only vitamin containing metal ions; Its crystal is red, so it is also called red vitamin. Plants do not contain VB12 and cannot make VB12. Liver is the best source of VB12, followed by milk, meat, eggs, fish and so on. VB12 is an essential coenzyme in the synthesis of RNA and deoxyribonucleic acid. The lack of VB12 in vivo can cause pathological changes of nervous system such as peripheral nerve and central encephalopathy.
