OVERVIEW

Coenzyme Q10 is a small molecule fat soluble quinone organic compound widely existing in animal and plant cells. Its structure is similar to that of vitamin K. It is a strong antioxidant when used alone or in combination with vitamin E. It is necessary to drive the human energy production (ATP) cycle. It has the function of promoting oxidative phosphorylation reaction and protecting the structural integrity of biofilm. Coenzyme Q from different sources has different numbers of side chain isopentene units. There are 10 isopentene units in humans and mammals, so it is called coenzyme Q10. Coenzyme Q plays an important role in proton transfer and electron transfer in the respiratory chain in vivo. It is not only an activator of cell respiration and cell metabolism, but also an important antioxidant and nonspecific immune enhancer.

USES & EFFECTIVENESS

1. It can reduce the weakening of myocardial contractility and the decrease of creatine phosphate and adenosine triphosphate content during acute ischemia, maintain the morphological structure of mitochondria of ischemic cardiomyocytes, and have a certain protective effect on ischemic myocardium.
2. Increasing cardiac output and reducing peripheral resistance are conducive to the treatment of anti heart failure, which may inhibit the synthesis and secretion of aldosterone and block its effect on renal tubules.
3. The duration of action potential was shortened and the threshold of ventricular arrhythmia was higher than that of control animals.
4. It can reduce peripheral vascular resistance and have anti aldosterone effect.
5. Coenzyme Q10 has anti adriamycin cardiotoxicity and liver protection.
