Meropenem is another semi synthetic carbapenem antibiotic for parenteral administration after imipenem cilastatin was listed in the United States. The synthesis of bacterial cell wall is inhibited by its covalent bond with penicillin binding proteins (PBPs) involved in cell wall synthesis, so as to play an antibacterial role. It is sensitive to Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria, especially Gram-negative bacteria.
USES & EFFECTIVENESS
1. Respiratory infection, such as chronic bronchitis, hospital acquired pneumonia, lung abscess, empyema, etc.
2. Intra abdominal infection, such as cholecystitis, cholangitis, liver abscess, peritonitis, etc.
3. Urinary and reproductive system infections, such as pyelonephritis, complex cystitis, endometritis, uterine adnexitis, intrauterine infection, pelvic inflammation, uterine connective tissue inflammation, etc.
4. Bone, joint, skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis, perianal abscess, osteomyelitis, arthritis, traumatic wound infection, burn wound infection, surgical incision infection, jaw and perijaw cellulitis, etc.
5. Eye, ear, nose and throat infection.
6. Empirical treatment. For adult patients with granulocytopenia with fever, this product can be used alone or in combination with antiviral or antifungal drugs.
7. It can be used alone or in combination with other antimicrobial agents to treat plural bacterial infections.
8. Other serious infections, such as meningitis, sepsis, etc.
